Building Automation Boutique: Weekly Reflections - 2025 Week 45

By PhilipNov 18, 20253 min read

Every morning our team shares a Goal of the Day. The one thing that, if done, makes the whole day count.

Some days we hit it, some we don’t.

This week’s reflection is packed: tighter security, fresh features, a bank causing problems, and a small dragon 🐉.

1. Security double down.
We released a new version of NineAnts with two-factor authentication, the little code from your phone that makes a big difference in keeping hackers out. Rollout to clients has started.

Our penetration test results came in. We paid a hacker to try to hack us… and they couldn’t. Only two low-priority suggestions. A big relief, and proof that our AI-first development process helps us write safer, better code faster.

2. A new logo.
You have spoken. We have a new logo!
Thank you to everyone who voted and shared feedback. I’ll admit my favourite didn’t win, but seeing so much engagement was great. Another step in making NineAnts look pretty.

3. Bank causing headaches in FIS Integrity.
A large bank caused havoc in a client’s Treasury Management System by sending old transactions in a new statement, which got picked up twice. Validations were in place, but this edge case slipped through. We enhanced the standard checks in FIS Integrity so it won’t happen again while still keeping valid items like bank fees safe (which look like duplicate but are not).

4. Client feedback that made my day.
One client uses NineAnts to process hundreds of Adyen reports daily and make them instantly available to the right people.
Their feedback:
“Before, I had to launch a report merger tool. Wait and hope it wouldn’t crash. Now I just log in, filter what I need, and download it. No more frustrated calls from other teams too. It just works.”

That alone made the week worth it.

5. New frontiers.
Our exploration with our compliance guru continues. A surprisingly fun use case for regulatory reporting. It has to be done, the penalties for errors are high, so you might as well do it well. We can’t share details yet, but if you’re working on something similar, let’s talk.

We also started experimenting with AI-based forecasting. With NineAnts we already get the data. Now we’re working on turning it into insight (and hopefully foresight). Everyone talks about AI for forecasting, but we’re actually doing it. We’ve already spoken with a few treasurers, but if you have ideas or cases, I’d love to hear them. We can share what we see working, and what not (and why).

6. Market curiosity.
Interest in Stablecoins is booming. We have 3 meetings next week with corporate treasury teams eager to explore the possibilities (some of them are giants!).

7. Life outside work.
The true highlight of the week: a private Treasury Dragons walk in the forest with my daughter, in matching onesies 🐉. We got a few weird looks 👀, but one needs to add a bit of fire from time to time.

💡 If you have a tip, question, or story about automation (or dragons), drop me a message I’d love to hear from you.
